Mechanisms and Empirical Analysis of the Impact of Soil and Water Conservation on the Livelihood and Well-Being of Farmer Households: A Case Study in Desert–Loess Transition Zone of China

Climate change brings great uncertainty to the sustainable livelihood of farmers. Soil and water conservation measures are key adapt climate change, studying their effects is significance formulating adjusting future work. Based on analysis framework livelihood, this study constructed a path model analyze influence among soil conservation, farmers’ well-being from perspective integration discussed mechanism effect well-being. The results show that (1) has significant both farmer households. positive households’ capital, farmers who participated in prefer engage agricultural activities, with cumulative capital strategies dependence. However, direct not significant, but only terms security health. (2) Through “livelihood accumulation mechanism”, dependence mechanism” chain affects basic material needs, safety health, freedom choice movement (3) In order further promote measures, relevant policy makers can indirectly enhance by optimizing portfolio farmers, thus attracting extensive participation This provides analytical ideas for exploring role relationship between well-being, offers suggestions increasing conservation.
